What to Expect with Government Stimulus Checks

Q: How do I register for my payment(s)?
A: There is no sign up for stimulus checks.
     All tax payers will receive a check.
     A social security number is the only qualifier. 
     There will be only one payment -it will not be made in installments

Q: What is the payment amount?
A: Around $1,200. Add $500 for each qualifying child under 16 years old.

Q: Will I get the full amount?
AThis is income dependent. 
     Single adults with a gross income of $75,000 or less will receive the full $1,200. 
     Married couples with no children will receive $2,400.
     The payment begins to decrease by $5 for every extra $100 earned until it stops for
       -singles earning $99,000 or
       -married couples with no children earning $198,000.

Q: How do I determine my gross income?
A: You can find your adjusted gross income on Line 8b of the 2019 1040 federal tax return.
     Haven't filed for 2019 yet? Your 2018 return will be used. 
     Haven't filed your 2018 taxes? We recommend filing those immediately. 

Q: I am not typically required to file a tax return. Can I still receive my payment?
A: Yes. People who typically do not file a tax return will need to file a simple tax return to receive an economic impact payment.
     Low-income taxpayers, senior citizens, Social Security recipients, some veterans
       and individuals with disabilities who are otherwise not required to file a tax return will not owe tax.

Q: Ok, so I don't need to register. How will the check be sent? 
A: If you e-filed your tax return, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) already has your bank account information. 
     Your check will be made via direct deposit.
     If you did not e-file, you will receive a check. 

Q: What if my bank account information or address has changed?
ASignature Bank of Arkansas will make every effort to post any incoming payment to another account with your verified information. 
     If you have changed banks or addresses since your last tax return, create an account on or call 1-800-829-1040 to update your information. 

Q: The IRS does not have my direct deposit information. What can I do?
A: In the coming weeks, Treasury plans to develop a web-based portal for individuals to provide their banking information to the IRS online,
       so that individuals can receive payments immediately as opposed to checks in the mail.

Q: How long do I wait? Will there be any communication?
A: Expect the process to take up to three weeks from the date the bill was signed (3-27-2020). 
     A paper notice will come in the mail no later than a few weeks after your payment has been disbursed,
       telling you where the payment went and in what form. 
     At this point, if you have not received your payment, you may contact the IRS. 

Q: Will I receive a check if I am...
A: Receiving Social Security Retirement? -YES
     Receiving Disability Payments? -YES
     Eligible Unemployed? -YES
     A Veteran? -YES
     A US Citizen living abroad? -YES

Q: Do I have to pay income tax? What if I owe the IRS?
A: Income tax will not be charged on these stimulus payments. 
    Tax debt to the IRS is not considered, nor is student loan default.
    If you are behind on child support payments, your payment could be garnished. 

In Our Branches

Starting Tuesday, March 24, we are temporarily limiting our banking hours to 8 AM - 5 PM. Limiting face-to-face contact is a key component to slow the spread of COVID-19. This schedule will allow us to mobilize more Signature Bankers to work from home in accordance with recommendations made by our Governor and President. 

As of Monday, March 16, building access is limited to Signature Bank employees. Our drive thrus will be open and properly staffed to care for customer needs. We appreciate your patience.

We will continue to closely monitor the situation and evaluate additional measures to support our customers and communities as needs arise.




Consumer Alert: Price Gouging is Illegal!

The Arkansas Legislature passed Act 376 in 1997 prohibits businesses from price gouging during a state of emergency. The law prohibits businesses from charging more than 10 percent above the pre-disaster price of goods or services. The scope of the law is broad and is intended to cover anything that may be needed in the event of a state of emergency. Examples of items and services covered by the law include: food, fuel, water, flashlights, batteries, blankets, medicine, bandages and construction materials.

If you find examples of price gouging, you may report them to the Arkansas Attorney General's Office. The Attorney General can seek injunctive relief, restitution to consumers, costs, attorneys’ fees and civil penalties up to $10,000 per violation. Criminal sanctions may also apply to violators.

Business Customer? Deposit Checks From Your Desk

Too many checks to upload through Mobile Deposit? Ask us about installing a complimentary Remote Deposit Capture (RDC) machine at your place of business. RDC can be a useful tool to save time and money by eliminating a trip to the bank from your daily to-do list.
